Partnership leadership, defined

Fractional partnership leadership for startups and scaleups.

If founder-led partnerships are becoming important but a permanent hire would start with a blank page, Samāruh provides a fixed-term, hands-on route to build the function first.

A clearer alternative to an open-ended role.

Titles can make this decision look more complicated than it is. You may be considering a fractional Head of Partnerships, a Partnership Director, a consultant or your first permanent hire because relationships are already creating opportunities, but nobody owns the system around them.

Samāruh is not a talent marketplace and does not sell a ready-made network of introductions. The 90-Day Partnership Engine is a finite build: strategy, partner proposition, target universe, live relationship work, reporting and handover. It is designed to give your eventual internal owner something real to run.

What fractional means here

Fractional should mean a meaningful part-time commercial contribution, not an undefined promise of seniority. During the Engine, Honey works alongside the founder and commercial team for two days a week to build and test the partnership function. The work is hands-on, but deliberately bounded.

  • A partnership thesis tied to a commercial problem, rather than a list of possible logos.
  • An ideal partner profile, scoring model and tiered target universe.
  • A partner proposition, outreach approach, relationship development and activation plan.
  • A CRM structure, attribution rules, reporting rhythm and playbook your team can own.
  • A clear handover, including live relationships, learnings and next priorities.

The titles describe different needs.

A VP, Head, Director and Manager can all be the right answer at different stages. The important question is not which title sounds most senior. It is whether you need an executive mandate, a function built from scratch, or daily partner management.

NeedUsually requiresWhere Samāruh fits
VP of PartnershipsExecutive mandate, budget and team design, leadership reporting and a long-term commercial remit. The Engine can create the strategy and operating foundation, but it is not an indefinite VP seat.
Head or Director of PartnershipsProgramme ownership, cross-functional alignment, partner motion design and an operating cadence. The Engine covers the fixed-term build work that helps a new or existing owner avoid starting from zero.
Partnerships ManagerDaily partner recruitment, onboarding, relationship management and programme administration.Samāruh builds the system and supports the important early work. Day-to-day management belongs with an internal owner after handover.
Partnership consultantA defined strategic or implementation problem with a clear scope and decision-maker access. This is the closest description of the Engine: practical consulting that builds a partnership function rather than only writing a plan.

What a successful engagement depends on

Partnership progress depends on more than the person building the motion. The offer needs enough product-market fit to make a partner proposition credible. The team needs to make decisions, share relevant customer and CRM information, and join the conversations where founder or executive involvement matters.

That is why Samāruh is explicit about fit. It is not a shortcut for lead generation, a replacement for the sales function, or a promise of a fixed number of partners or introductions. It is a route to building commercial capability properly.

Frequently asked

The questions behind the title.

Is Samāruh a fractional Head of Partnerships?

Samāruh can provide senior, hands-on partnership leadership during a defined build. The 90-Day Partnership Engine is not an open-ended Head of Partnerships position. It is designed to create the strategy, operating system and handover that an internal owner can run.

Is this the same as a freelance Partnership Director?

The terminology overlaps, but the scope matters more than the label. Samāruh works on a defined commercial build with a clear handover, not as a general-purpose contractor or a daily partner-management resource.

When is a permanent hire the better route?

A permanent hire is usually the better route when the need for ongoing leadership, team management and daily partner ownership is already proven. If the function itself is still undefined, the Engine can reduce the risk of asking that hire to create everything from scratch.
